In the parable of the sower, Jesus tells us about the way he gives out his gifts, especially the gift of God’s Word.  Jesus might say, I know that in you there are footpaths and some rocky ground, and some thorns.  But I also know that there is some good soil.  “Where I sow, I sow lavishly.”

The seed of the Word of God falls upon me, and when I hear it, it grows and develops into God’s kingdom. A kingdom where all people and all creation come together.  A kingdom of peace, justice, truth and love.

Therefore I need to make sure I’m not letting the seed of God’s Word bounce off my life like the seed hitting the footpath.  I can’t let the other concerns of my life choke out the seed when I focus my attention on too many other things.  God’s Word can only take root in a receptive heart that’s ready to hear what God has to say.  Do I let anything keep me from submitting to God’s Word with joy and trusting obedience ?  You have the potential to grow into a Saint.  All it takes is cultivating your “good soil “.
