Reflection July 27 th – Matthew 13: 31-35

Today’s Gospel is about the mustard seed. It is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of plants. Jesus’ disciples were like the mustard seed. They were small in their social status, small in their knowledge, and small in their possessions, yet with a little bit of faith, they could do big things. They have helped grow our Church to over 1.2 Billion Catholics around the world today.

If a few disciples with a little faith can have that impact on the world, imagine what all of us can do if we trust, and step out in faith. It doesn’t require social status, great wealth, or deep theological knowledge to light a fire in people’s hearts, it just takes faith the size of a tiny mustard seed, and trust that Jesus doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called!
