For any of life’s major commitments, you simply have to give up some things.  For example, when we get married we relinquish some individual freedom such as autonomous decision making and total financial control.  But we gain more important things like love, companionship and family.

When I commit to being a follower of Christ, I have to give up some things as well.  Perhaps some individual freedom, some of my money, or perhaps some relationships with the wrong kind of people.  But a disciple or traveler makes that choice willingly because of the blessings that come with being a traveler with Christ.

Today we celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Jesus pours out for us a love that is never meant to end. This heart calls us to a wonderful life and helps us recognize what a gift it is to be so loved by the Lord.  A heart that transforms our heart to be able to love the Lord in return And share that love with everyone we meet !
