When I was working and living in England, I would visit a different Historical site each weekend. One Saturday I traveled to Canterbury to see the Cathedral where St. Thomas Becket Bishop of Canterbury was murdered while at the altar. After my visit I was in a pub talking with people who knew I was American by my accent. I told them I was visiting the Cathedral and that I was a Catholic. They directed me to some ruins across the street that was a former monastery and said a Catholic Saint Augustine of Canterbury is supposed to be buried there. (Today is his feast day). After a long search I found a plaque that indicated his burial spot. An elderly distinguished gentleman had been walking thru that site also. I passed him and told him I found the spot where St. Augustine was buried. He asked me to show him. I took him there, he knelt down and behind to cry.
St. Augustine was sent by Pope Gregory in 597 From Rome to bring Christianity to the British Isle. He was ordained first Bishop of Canterbury. He was afraid to go but was obedient to God’s will.
We are often afraid like Augustine, but God has a special plan for you. You have been set apart for a specific purpose. Your life here is not an accident, or pointless, or meaningless. It is ordained by God for something only you can accomplish! Pray for his guidance in doing his will. Remember if he leads you to it, he will lead you through it !!
