In todays Gospel, John 17: 20-26, we find Jesus saying “Righteous Father, the world also does not know you. I made it known to them that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in them”.
His statement that the world does not know the Father was appropriate way back then, and sadly, may even be more appropriate today. In a world that seems to be trying more and more to drive God out of our lives, he needs us to be his disciples even more today.
We, his followers, need to know the Father, and understand the same incredible love he showed his Son, is available for all of us. Armed with that knowledge and our faith, we need to let it be known in the world as his disciples did back then. Jesus is counting on us. Are we counting on him for this mission?
