In our gospel today, Mark 12: 41-44, we hear the story of the poor woman that gives only two coins to the treasury. Although she only gave two coins and other gave much more, Jesus says she gave more than anyone else because she gave all she had, and the others only gave from their excess.
There is great meaning in this woman’s giving of all she had. Even though she was poor, she did everything she could to repay God for all he had done for her. She gave her whole livelihood, all of her resources, and all of her possessions for God.
Let us reflect on this Gospel today. Are we giving to God from our excess of time, talent, and treasure, or are we giving him all we have? Even if we have little, are we thankful to God for that, or do we hold him in contempt? Let us use this poor widow as our model of giving, and gratitude to God.

Our gospel today Luke 17: 1-6, Jesus warns his disciples of the danger of sin. The warning is for those through whom sin occurs, but he also tells them to forgive others that wrong them if they ask for forgiveness.
Jesus holds us accountable, too: “If anyone is a cause for one of these little ones to sin, better a millstone be around our neck and be thrown into the sea.” I can’t help but think that if this is what happens to us if we cause a child to sin, how much worse will it be for those who promote abortion!
Let us reflect on this Gospel today. Jesus tells us that, whatever be the source of our sin: jealousy, covetousness, mean-spiritedness, or envy, get rid of it. Let us leave any of these sources of sin at the foot of the altar, for none of these bring others to Christ.
