Jesus said to Pilate, “Everyone who belongs to the truth hears my voice.”
The question is, whose voice do we listen to? Everyday we are told what to think and what to believe by the media, the government, and even our coworkers. Pilate’s judgement was based on what others had told him about Jesus not what he knew. We must take the time to get to know Jesus personally and not from what others say about him.
When people go to the Holy Land they often say to me, “Wow this is nothing like the way the news shows this country or these people.” My comment back is usually, “Duh – you think?”
A good lesson for us today is to reject all judgement of others based upon hearsay. Try to replace that judgement with prayers for that person. Give them the benefit of the doubt, and entrust them to the care of Christ our King. In this way we build up the Kingdom of God instead of tearing it apart by our words.
St. Joseph, pray for us !
