After a full day of healing the sick and driving out demons, Jesus rested. Very early the next morning before dawn, he went off to pray. For Jesus there was a balance between his Apostolic Action and his Piety or prayer life. He was never too busy to pray and he found strength in his prayer to do the work of his Father. Prayer for Jesus was not a one time action, but was part of his daily routine.

What a great example for all of us. We all need that balance between piety and action. Our prayer life also needs to be a part of our daily routine. We all have routines that we follow such as always making coffee at the same time or brushing our teeth at a certain time. Prayer should also be part of our daily routine.

Through prayer our love for others in enkindled. Through prayers we find the strength to do what God is calling us to do. Through prayer we have the courage to say; “Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.”
