The thing that everyone has to have in this life to be happy, is for their life to have meaning. But how do I find meaning in my life ? One way is to find a life and career that has meaning. A second and most likely way is to find meaning in the life I’ve got.
 
In reality I don’t control most things in my life. I didn’t choose the family I was born into or the country of my birth. I didn’t choose the religion of my parents. I don’t get to pick which time in the history of the world I would live. All the things happening in the world, and much of what is going on around me, is not within my control.
 
What I do control is how I will live my life. Do I live a life of love and concern for those around me ? Do I treat them with compassion and respect ? All God expects me to do is to craft my life into a tiny jewel. It will become part of a great mosaic that God is crafting.
 
Remember today’s Gospel message, “The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you….!”
