Even though they had heard all the reports and testimony that Jesus had risen from the dead, there were still lingering doubts among the apostles. Can you imagine then the fear they felt when he was standing there before them. Who wouldn’t be terrified! Who wouldn’t doubt!
Doubt is a human reaction. Even the saints had doubts. Like the disciples, we don’t have to be ashamed of our doubts or hesitation to believe. Jesus will never condemn us for questioning. Jesus sometimes questioned his disciples lack of faith, but he never rejected them because of it.
So be encouraged ! Why not instead bring some area of unbelief in your heart to Jesus today ? Trust that he already knows your heart and your needs. Don’t be a “doubting Thomas”. Believe that he always welcomes those who come to him in honesty and humility.
Remember Jesus is gentle, merciful, patient and loving. We need more of that during these trying times !
