There is a closeness between the Father and the Son. Jesus said; “Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father…!” But it’s also true that Jesus had an amazing closeness to his disciples and followers. Isn’t it striking how I can know something is mine simply by a minor detail. For example, us golfers can find our ball in the rough simply by a nick or scuff mark I recognize from when it bounced off the cart path. Or someone can identify their lost sunglasses by a small tear in the case or scratch on one of the lenses.
Things that belong to me become personalized by little details that only I would know. Today Jesus is saying that he knows me in that very same personal way. I am his and he knows every little detail (even flaws) that make me who I am. I am his ! I may not be perfect, but even my imperfections and flaws help to make me more personally known by him.
We have an amazing closeness to the Son ! Let us work on nurturing our closeness to him by the way we treat one another !
