The parents who brought their children to Jesus wanted him to lay hands on them and bless them. They believed in the healing power of Jesus both physically and spiritually. The disciple however where either in a hurry or we’re trying to shield Jesus from these noisy children and tried to prevent them from coming. Jesus however loved children and wanted them to come for a blessing. He demonstrated that God’s love has ample room for everyone, even these little children.
No one is unimportant to God. Can we say the same thing ? Do we find certain people annoying and try to avoid them at all cost. Jesus shows us that God comes to each person individually that he might touch them with his healing power and love. He wants the best for ALL people. Do we show kindness to all we encounter, both young and old, at work, school or church ? Do we pray for our children and grand children that they may grow in the knowledge and wisdom of Jesus Christ.
Now is the time ! And as we grow in wisdom and age, may we never lose that child-like humility and simplicity which draws us ever closer into his loving presence.
