As we say in Cursillo, Jesus never said it would be easy to follow him, he only promised us it would be worth it !
Jesus never painted a rosy picture for his disciple of a comfortable life either. Rather he challenged them to new heights and a new way of looking at the world. Today we don’t have to search very hard to find people or groups that demand the Church change its teaching, which they characterize as “too hard” or “too old fashion”. Today Jesus asks me to humbly submit to the church’s teaching and follow the truth. He challenges me to have the strength to follow him even if it means being ridiculed or a loss of friends and colleagues.
My friends, only the truth can quench the thirst of my intellect. Only the Source of Life can satisfy the desires of my will. Only the one who died on the cross can free me from my sins. Only love can conquer my heart and fill it with unending joy. So to whom could we possibly go ? I have totally come to believe and, like Peter, am convinced that Jesus is the Holy One of God. I’m also totally convinced that he is present in the Eucharist and in our Catholic Church.
St. Joseph, pray for us !
