Jesus said; “What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life ? For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father’s glory, and then he will repay everyone according to his conduct.”
Because I am a son or daughter of God and made in his image, I am called to greatness. That’s the conduct he expects.
Now we all know it’s hard to go for greatness. You don’t get a lot of support from people when you try for greatness or when you reach for something beyond the ordinary. People will tell you to take it easy, or it’s not possible, or don’t push yourself so hard.
Yet every time I come to the Eucharist and place myself on the altar in the symbols of bread and wine, I join with the Lord in his giving of himself to greatness. I join with that. I know that a life lived as God calls me to live it, is a life of true greatness.
Am I willing to go for greatness in my life ?
