I want to start by saying how good it was to see everyone this morning at SOL. Being with you all, even on Zoom, made me really happy. I know from many years of experience that I am happy when my heart is “right”. I am reminded I have an inner monitor that measures the peacefulness of my heart. If I don’t have peace there, then no amount of external comfort will compensate for it.
Jesus teaches that the key to a peaceful heart, is to hear the word of God and keep it. Those who do this are happy and at peace. Even if their present condition is difficult, they are at peace with God. Jesus even calls “blessed” those who are peacemakers and those persecuted for acting rightly.
I have known people who may or may not have had an abundance of talent or material possessions, but used what they had to benefit others. They were truly happy here on earth, and I have confident hope that they have far more now than anyone ever dreamed of.
By God’s grace it is within me to do the same !
