In the Scriptures, mountains are often seen as places of revelation where heaven and earth meet. In our pilgrimage to the Holy Land we went up several of these important mountains: Mt. Carmel, Mt. Tabor, Mt. Zion and the Mt. of the Beatitudes.

Each of these mountains reveal to us certain truths God wants us to know. On Mt. Carmel we reflect on God coming to us in the quiet whispering sounds. He teaches us to quiet our lives so we can hear him. On Mt. Tabor he shows us his transfigured glory.  On the Mt. of the Beatitudes he teaches us how we are to live in order to be blest. On Mt. Zion he feeds us with his Body and Blood. On the Mount of Calvary he defeated sin and death so that we might have eternal life.

As you look upon Jesus in the manger this Advent, think about all he has taught on these holy mountains. For us, Christmas is not just a remembrance. It is a present, living reality. Soon Christmas will be either one of the best things that has ever happened to us or it will become a sadly missed opportunity ! Don’t be so busy that the latter happens !
