Jesus tells us to be like the wise man who built his home on a solid foundation. Yet we know that most foundations seem firm when the weather is good. Fair weather doesn’t test the strength of our foundation. The real test comes in a severe storm when the weather turns nasty.
 
The same can be said of our spiritual foundation. When everything is peaceful, our spiritual foundation is strong. It’s when a crisis happens that we know the real steadiness and strength of our faith. Even Peter said he would never deny Christ, but we know how that worked out. He learned the hard way that his courage wasn’t as strong as he imagined.
 
So let us ask ourselves this first week of Advent. How well do I face ordinary temptations and setbacks in my life ? How well could I face a serious
crisis ? This Advent, let us pray that when the real crisis comes, the foundation of our faith is strong enough to endure the test !
