In our gospel today, Matthew 2:13-18, Joseph is told by an angel to “rise, take this child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you”. This is the second time Joseph was told by an angel what to do for God.
What faith and obedience Joseph showed! Just go to Egypt and wait. No further instructions on where to stay, what to do for work, no idea of how long, nothing. This took incredible faith, trust and obedience. Could we do this, or do we need the full plan with all the details, all of our questions answered, and all of our conditions met before we say yes to God?
Let us use Saint Joseph as our role model in showing unconditional love in following God’s will. Let us pray for faith, trust and obedience, and the ability to wait for God to reveal his plan for our lives, in his time.
