In every group of animals there seems to be one who gets distracted and lost. In any large group it seems we are often waiting for one person. In our lives too it is easy to get distracted. Many times when this happens we stray away from our faith and our relationship with the Lord. If we are not careful we can be easily seduced by the world and a whole variety of material pleasures.  These “obstacles” create a barrier between us and our Lord.

The good news for us is our Good Shepherd is waiting for us, his lost sheep, to carry us back to the safety of his fold. I find it so comforting to know that he longs for us to be reconciled with him, just as the shepherd goes out and longs to find one of his lost sheep.

It’s almost shocking to discover we can please him by simply turning to him and letting him restore us to full friendship with himself. Christ simply wants us to open our hearts so he can heal us and make us whole. Is there any better way to prepare for Christmas than that ?
