Today’s feast is the Presentation of the Lord which is also the Fourth Joyful Mystery. Today we hear that Simeon went to the temple everyday hoping to see the long awaited Messiah. He didn’t know who he was or what to expect. Would this Messiah look like a king or perhaps a warrior. Certainly Jesus arrived with no fanfare in an unexpected manner as a little baby in the arms of his mother. It was not what Simeon may have expected, but he still recognized him by the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
This story is great because it reminds us also that we often encounter God in unexpected ways. We have certain expectation as to how he will answer our prayers. Yet Jesus does not often come to us in ways we expect.
So stay faithful ! Be ready ! Be open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit ! For Jesus will answer your prayers or show himself to you in new and unexpected ways.
