Queen Esther was about to risk her life to plead to the king for her people, the Jews. Alone inside the palace she had no one to turn to for support except God. Esther knew God was with her in her loneliness.
A few hours before Jesus was arrested, he told his apostles they would completely abandoned him. In the garden he prayed all alone.
When Paul was arrested he writes: “At the first hearing of my case in court, no one took my part. In fact everyone abandoned me”. 2Tim10 Yet Paul knew that God was with him.

It is not good for us to be alone. In Cursillo we therefore stress the importance of Grouping and Ultreya. Even with Covid we need to find ways to support one another. We cannot let any of our brothers and sisters in Christ feel abandoned. Think about those you have not seen in a while during the quarantine. Reach out to them to let them know someone cares. Reach out to those in your parish or neighborhood, to anyone who appears to have no human support or fellowship.

Jesus said: “Know that I am with you always.” This Lent let us share that knowledge with anyone who feels abandoned !

St. Joseph, pray for us !
