There aren’t many gifts that come with no strings attached. Jesus uses the image of little children to make the point that when children receive a gift, it would never occur to them that they earned it. They don’t repay it. They are just thankful for it like my little grandchildren.
Jesus says to us, we have to accept the kingdom of God like a little child. Jesus says to us he wants to give us a gift. I want to give you forgiveness with no strings attached. By the way, don’t think you’ve earned it, because you can’t. All I ask is a grateful heart like that of a little child. Like my grandkids.
So when we go to Mass, let us celebrate all of God’s gifts, because the Lord gives me this incredible gift each and every day.
