Why did Jesus use parables when he taught the people of his time ? He used simple word pictures to help people visualize and understand who God is and what his kingdom is like. Jesus used images and characters that they could relate to from their everyday life to illustrate his message.
 
He wasn’t alone in this method of teaching as it was common for his era. But his stories were captivating and caught their attention and imagination. His stories appealed to the young and old, to the rich and poor, to the learned and unlearned as well. Over one third of the Synoptic Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke contain these parables.
 
Today our lives should be a parable showing others the way to live, to achieve true happiness of life. All of our stories are different. All of our life experiences are important for others to hear. So share your life stories. Share your love for Jesus and his church. Share your faith. These are today’s parables that
matter !
