Jesus never said it would be easy, he only promised us that it would be worth it.  If it was easy to do his work, there would be no shortage of disciples.  He knows however that what makes It possible for us to be his disciples required self sacrifice .  Sacrifice that purifies us and ennobled us. Jesus never hesitated to tell his disciples what they might expect if they followed him.

This not the message we might prefer to hear when Jesus commissioned us for service in the advancement of his kingdom.  Nonetheless it is a privilege to follow him who laid down his life for us.  The question is, are we willing to accept hardship and suffering to follow our Lord Jesus Christ ?

If our answer is yes, then let us pray to accept what hardship may come our way in following him.  May he strengthen my faith and give me courage that I may not shrink from doing his will !
