We just returned from Arizona where we celebrated our Grand daughters First birthday !  It amazing to see how she has grown.  She crawls now and loves to climb everywhere. This sometimes means she needs to be rescued by her parents.  A child’s boundless trust leads them to immediately turn to mom & dad and trust that they will help them out of their  current crisis.

This is precisely the image Jesus uses in today’s Gospel.  If God reveals himself to the childlike, then how can we become like children in relation to God ?  This kind of innocent trust is the attitude God wants all of us to have.

When we turn to God like children, he does more than just pick us up and comfort us.  Like a parent, he shows us how much he loves us.  In him we find security and peace. The same security and peace we find in our parent’s arms.  Best of all, he assures us that he is always our Father.  Isn’t this how Jesus taught us to pray: “Our Father”.
