Jesus said to Thomas; “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” My friends, that’s all of us !!

We live in a culture where I have to know everything. If I can’t see something, or lack evidence, then I refuse to believe. The fact is that faith is often easier for some people than for others. Some people readily believe in God, while others need proof. I would say that at one time or another, we all struggle with some aspect of our faith. Even the saints did that. To doubt is natural and human.

Jesus didn’t hold Thomas’ doubt against him and he doesn’t hold it against us either. For those who are struggling with their faith, especially now in this culture of ours, I say don’t lose heart. Remember, Jesus showed himself to Thomas and he will show himself to us. He will reveal himself in the Eucharist, the Scriptures, and through other Christians. Stay alert, because He will reveal himself in very subtle ways.

So today let us pray for those who struggle with doubts, especially our children and loved ones. Let us ask Jesus to help them see him. Let us all be able to proclaim as did Thomas when he finally came to believe; “My Lord and my God !”

St. Joseph, pray for us !
