In the gospel today Jesus calls his disciples by name and sends them out with the proclamation; “The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.”  The fact is he has called you by name to go out and do the same today.  When you were Baptized, even though you may not remember it, he called you by name.  Today is a good time to reflect on how successful I am in letting others know the good news of Jesus Christ.

It’s easy to busy ourselves with earthly matters.  There is much to occupy our thoughts and there are many things of concern in our world today.  It’s easy to allow these and other temptation occupy our time.  But God expects us to go out and make him known.  Today we should ask him, “what things am I putting ahead of doing your will ?”  “What can I do to put you first ?”  By asking these questions on a regular basis, God can open our eyes and hearts to show what steps we need to take and the people he wants us to encounter.
It might mean a little less time watching Netflix.  It might mean some extra prayer time or making a point to go to Confession.  If we take time to seek the Lord and realize he has called us by name, then he will show is the path he wants us to follow.
