55 years ago a woman named Sheila said “I do” before God’s holy altar and married me.  What a blessings for me and a support for me as a deacon all these years.

In our reading today Elijah is in a cave (I’ve been there four times for mass) and God says he will pass by.  The scripture said there was an earthquake but God was not in the earthquake.  How did Elijah know God was not in the earthquake ? Next there was a strong driving wind, but God was not in the wind.  My question is how did he know God was not in the wind.  Finally there was a quiet whispering sound and Elijah went and hid his face.  How did Elijah know God was there ?  Those that go to Cursillo say they felt God presence at Cursillo.  I agree with them but ask again, how did they know God was there ?

The answer to this question about God is that an encounter with God changes us profoundly, and we realize we have been changed.  We totally realize in our heart a transforming love.  We bay not be able to explain it, but we know it is there.  In my life I felt that at Cursillo. I also felt that the day I met my wife !!
