What kind of foundation is my life built upon?
What principles have I built my life around ?
There is a difference between acting on principles and simply the desire to do what is right. Most people sincerely want to do the right thing, but often we get caught up In the ways of the world. We value life, but think nothing of speeding in heavy traffic. We say we want to get to heaven, but yet we dabble in sins and surf racy web sites. We cut down people in office gossip and close our heart to the needy. That’s when we need a solid foundation built on principles.
What principles have I built my life upon ? Do I have a principle about forgiveness ? Do I have a principle about talking negatively about others ? Do I have a principle about prayer ? How about generosity, especially to my church and the needy ？
What principles are the foundation on which I built my life ? Am I on solid ground so that when the rain falls and a crisis occurs I don’t fall apart ? Is my life built solidly on rock, putting into practice all the things a baptized Catholic person believes ?
