Today is the feast of Corpus Christi. As we receive Jesus in the Eucharist today, we need to thank him that we are Catholic and for this incredible gift of his Body and Blood.
We need to thank him that he has bound himself to us in this unconditional bond of love that he gave us as he was preparing to receive his cross.
We are really fortunate because he has made this gift available to us every day if we chose to go to Mass. Perhaps however it is too readily available and we take it for granted. One of the few good things that came out of the pandemic was that people couldn’t receive the Eucharist and this created a great longing in their hearts.
Christ said that he would not drink the fruit of the vine until the day he would drink it anew in the Kingdom of Heaven. What a privilege it will be for us one day to participate in this heavenly banquet. The Eucharist and Mass are a foretaste of that banquet. So let us do everything possible to be ready for that day. Let us take in Christ’s love given to us in the Eucharist. Then let us open our hearts to his incredible grace, and let it strengthen us as we love and serve him all the remaining days of our life.
