Was Jesus just exaggerating when he said be perfect as my father is perfect. How about loving our neighbors as ourselves. He couldn’t be serious, could he? How can we possibly love as God loves or forgive as God forgives?
Jesus did not deliver an impossible command. Rather he delivered a command designed to help us grow in his image and likeness. God is infinitely creative, so expect he will move you in an unexpected direction and help you do what you yourself thought not to be possible.
Right now God is ready to give you the grace you need to accomplish all he expects of you, even to love your enemies. Will you always get it right. No! Will you have the grace to grow in his love and perfection as you try and try again? Always!!
