Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
Jesus is reminding me that because the age of the Messiah has dawned, when I fast, I fast with a joyful heart.
That should be true with everything I do. Everything has a new spirit because of the coming of the Messiah. Jesus used the image of a new fresh garment, rather than putting a patch on an old garment. Because of him, the old life is over, and a new life has begun.
While I continue with Lent’s traditions of fasting, prayer and almsgiving, I need to do these practices in a new spirit. I just can’t do the same thing in the same way now that the Messiah had come into my heart ! Thank you Cursillo for that new awareness !
