In our gospel today from John 10: 31-42, Jesus was accused of blasphemy for telling the truth about himself, that he was the Son of God. When the mob tried to arrest and stone him, he simply walked away from the mob, and went back to the Jordan to do his work.
Jesus knew exactly who he was, and never wavered under pressure from the crowd.
How are we like Jesus today? When the world doesn’t like what we have to say because of our Christian beliefs, and the crowd wants to silence or even stone us because we don’t go along with them, do we stand firm knowing who we are? Can we ignore them and go on about our mission to bring Christ to the world without fear?
Today let us be reminded by this Gospel to follow the example of Jesus. Let us have the courage to stand firm against those that want to do us harm because of our beliefs, because we know we are children of God!
