Deacon Russ Millspaugh sent out a cartoon that has God and Satan looking down on the earth.  Satan tells God, “I sent a virus and it closed all of your churches.”  God replies; “Yes but it opened up millions of churches in people’s homes.”   This reminds us what several recent Popes have said that the home is the domestic church.  It is where the faith is planted, nurtured and grown.

During this Coronavirus we have plenty of time to do some nurturing at home.  Are we waisting this time or really trying to use it well.  We can complain about our situation or we can see this as a very unusual but unique opportunity.  God wants to use this time to let us know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we are loved and forgiven.  He reminds us as we approach Ascension and Pentecost that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to build up his kingdom and we do that by starting at home !

Use the quiet time to listen to God because we never know when he will speak to us.  Let us stay alert so that we can respond when we hear his gentle voice !
