Saturday is the sacrament Rollo in Cursillo so I thought I would reflect on all the awesome truths surrounding Baptism.  In baptism we have Died with Christ and have been cleansed of original sin.  We are become children of God and are made members of the church.  Think also of all the images used to explain this Sacrament: cleansing, enlightening, being born from above, stripping off the old and putting on the new. A collection of truths like these can make us marvel.

But at the same time it can also seem too theoretical.  So what does that mean for me today ?  The Church teaches that by Baptism ALL sins are forgiven as well as punishment for sin.  But no matter how clean Baptism makes us, it is hard to stay clean.  While the sacrament takes away sin and it’s punishment, it does not wipe out temptations.  We will fall again in small ways and big ways.  Yet since we were baptized into Christ, we can come to him any time we need and receive his pardon and peace, no matter how far we have fallen.  In part two of this Rollo we talk about the Sacrament of Reconciliation, but not now.

This unusual Easter Season let us renew our Baptismal Promises.  Each morning when you awake, tell Jesus you believe in his resurrection.  Tell yourself that because of your baptism you have been raised with him.  If you have Holy Water use it to make the sign of the Cross, calling to mind your baptism.  Remember you are forgiven and part of his wounded body here on earth.

Make God bless you and bless our Cursillo family !!
