There is a story about a young boy and his mom who go to Mass at this magnificent Cathedral while on vacation. The young boy looks at all the beautiful stained glass windows and asks his Mom, “Who are all those people?” She tells him she does not know who they are. During Mass the boy stares at them intently. They shine as the sunlight hits them. As they are leaving after Mass he says to her, “I know who those people are !” She asks him who. He says, “Those are the people who let God’s light shine through them !”

This story should remind us that we need to be people who let God’s light shine through us ! You are a visible sign of God’s mercy and love to your family, spouse, and everyone you meet.

I would like to close with this prayer I recently read. “Lord Jesus, let your light shine through me that others may see your love and truth, and find hope and peace in you. May I never doubt your love nor take for granted the mercy you have shown to me. Fill me with your transforming love that I may be merciful as you are merciful.”
