How many of us find it difficult to acknowledge Jesus before others? This includes speaking about him to our family at family gatherings. How many times do we listen to attacks on Jesus and his Catholic Church without objecting? We might even kind of nod or smile as if we agree with what is being said. Or how many people have a terrible time just making the sign of the cross in public? It’s easy to do when we have dinner at home, but for some difficult when they are in a restaurant. Perhaps someone there might think I’m Catholic !
Fellow Cursillistas, we have to witness to our faith every day of our lives. No matter where we go or what we do, we are witnesses to our belief in Christ. This includes how we vote in a few days. I need to live God’s virtues in the ordinary moments of my daily life so that my life is a testimony that others need to see. I need to the foster humility of a person who looks at the greatness of God and yet recognizes his own sinfulness.
Jesus said: “….everyone who acknowledges me before others the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God!”
