There are times when we ask ourselves, why doesn’t God see things the way I see them ? Why doesn’t he answer my request ? Why doesn’t he heal the loved one I’m praying for ? Why doesn’t he fix the mess our world seems to be in ? It would make so much sense for him to just do what I’m asking !
Of course we know that God’s ways are above our ways. Look at how he dealt with his chosen people over the centuries. Even though they left him to follow their own way, he never abandoned them. They only needed to seek him to find mercy. (Isaiah 55:6-7)
And so it is with us. He gives his love and mercy to anyone who comes to him. The early bird or latecomer, the sinner or the saint. All are welcome ! Yes, God’s ways are above our ways.
As we are nourished by Jesus in the Eucharist, may our ways grow to become more like his way !
