Two weeks ago we laid to rest our good friend Jim back in Indiana. Last night his wife Pauline died following two strokes. We will be heading back to do another funeral of a very dear friend who has been the friend of my wife since sixth grade !!
Eternal rest Grant unto her oh Lord !!

Who do you admire and want to be like ? King Herod both respected and feared John the Baptist. John however was not afraid to reprimand him for his adulterous life. Herod admired him and listened to him, yet was not afraid to put him to death to please his family. When reports about Jesus reached Herod, he became very troubled. He thought perhaps John had risen from the dead and was coming back to torment him. Herod wanted to meet this Jesus, but not follow him.
Do we really want to follow him ? Does God’s word take priority in our daily life ? Or do we allow other voices and messages to distract us ? Jesus promises to be with us continually if we listen to his voice and obey his word. Let us allow the enduring wisdom of God to guide us always, and if necessary to wake us up !!
