Today Is the celebration of the birthday of Momma Mary. Tomorrow is the birthday of the woman my boys call Momma. In reflecting on Mary’s birthday it’s always amazing to me how God’s plan of salvation was carried out through this young, ordinary girl who was born without sin. God took the ordinary and created a masterpiece in the Immaculate Conception.
But we see this again as Jesus chose his twelve apostles. He picked 12 ordinary men who had no wealth or no position of authority or power. They were chosen from common people who did ordinary things. He chose these men not for what they were, but for what they were capable of becoming under his guidance and instructions.
And so it is with us. When the Lord calls us to serve, we must not hold back because we think we have little or nothing to offer. The Lord takes what ordinary people, like us, can offer, and uses it for greatness in building up his kingdom. So ask yourself, is there anything holding me back from giving myself to the work he has asked me to do?
